ISO 26000: Guidance on Social Responsibility

Social Responsibility has come a long way from organisations making some charitable donations at the end of the year. These philanthropic endeavours remain extremely important and commendable but are only one element in the much wider sphere of activity covered by Social Responsibility today.

The International Standards Organisation recognised the need for guidance in this area and in November 2010 published a new standard, ISO 26000: Guidance on Social Responsibility. The standard provides guidance on core SR subjects like organizational governance, human rights, labour practices, the environment, fair operating practices, consumer issues, community involvement and development.

Kinelea helped in the development of ISO 26000 as a member of the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) Multi-Stakeholder Working Group. We provide guidance and training to organisations intending to adopt the internationally recognised principles and practices recommended in the standard.

Global Reporting Initiative Sustainability Reporting

Today, organisations must not only be 'doing things right' but also be 'doing the right thing'. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is an opportunity to 'do the right thing' and CSR reporting will allow you to be 'seen to do the right thing'!

Responsible Supply Chain Management, Green Public Procurement, Life Cycle Analysis, 'Cradle to Cradle' Product Design, 'Chain of Custody' traceability, Sustainable KPIs and other standards and practices are increasingly expected from suppliers and looked for by customers. These can be addressed through a comprehensive CSR reporting framework.

CSR reports provide long term valuable information and future direction for the organisation's strategy, operations, innovation, development and governance.
